Sew 'n'Knit

Sew 'n' Knit has traded from Market Square in Lisburn since 1982, making it the town's oldest yarn and craft shop still in business. The shelves hold wool and haberdashery for knitting, crochet and general sewing, and the shop also sells and services domestic sewing machines, a sideline that has kept it relevant as fewer people learn to sew at home. It is family run, associated with the Pegg family, and has stayed in the same small Market Square unit rather than expanding to other towns. Doors open at 9am Monday to Saturday and 10am on Sunday, closing at 5pm and 4pm respectively. Regulars come for pattern advice as much as for materials, and staff between them carry decades of practical sewing and knitting experience.
