The Book Nook is an independent bookshop in Stewarton, founded in 2020 by owner Sarah and now trading from the Stewarton Area Centre on Avenue Street, having moved to that address in March 2026. The shop stocks new titles across children's books, teen and young adult fiction, and adult fiction and non-fiction, with staff able to order in anything not already on the shelves. It was named Scotland's Independent Bookshop of the Year in both 2024 and 2025. Beyond retail, the shop runs a programme of author events, children's workshops and several book clubs split by age group, functioning as a gathering point for the town as much as a place to buy books. Opening hours run Tuesday to Saturday, with a shorter afternoon on Wednesdays and closure on Sundays and Mondays. It remains a single-shop business serving Stewarton and the surrounding villages of East Ayrshire.
