The Box Tree occupies two adjoining eighteenth-century sandstone cottages on Church Street and has operated as a restaurant since 1962, making it one of Yorkshire's longest-running fine-dining addresses. Following a £500,000 refurbishment the dining rooms reopened in September 2026 offering a tasting menu only, served Wednesday to Sunday. The building retains its antique-furnished lounge for pre-dinner drinks.
