The Flying Duck occupies a Grade II listed building on Church Street in Ilkley, built as a farmhouse in 1709 and among the town's oldest structures. A 2012 renovation restored much of the building's original character and received a conservation award, and a barn conversion on the site created the third iteration of Wharfedale Brewery. Gerard, the landlord and head brewer, runs the pub and gives visitors brewery tours explaining the process behind Wharfedale Best, Blonde, Citra, IPA, Pale and Porter. The ground floor keeps two interconnected stone rooms with low ceilings, heavy stone walls and York stone flags, including a snug with its own open fire. An upstairs room provides further seating and space for functions. Families and dogs are welcome throughout.
