The OldPier Bookshop

Tony Vettese has run the Old Pier Bookshop since 1990, in a seafront building his family has held since the 1960s, and has filled it in the intervening decades with a hundred thousand secondhand books arranged as a maze rather than a system — sci-fi and crime in particular depth, floor to ceiling throughout, with the shop's own curios silting up between the stacks. Morecambe's promenade does grand deco and faded grandeur; this is its third register, the gloriously overstuffed, and a browse here is measured in hours whether you intended that or not.
