The Pilot Brewery operates a single brew plant inside the Pilot Inn, a Mumbles seafront pub built in 1849 as a mariners' inn by Samuel Ace. Jo and Richard Bennett reopened the pub in December 2012, and Richard Bennett has brewed on site as the Pilot Brewery since the operation came under his sole control in July 2014. The brewery produces a small, fixed range that includes Gold, Black Storm, Wrecker and Revolver, sold mainly across the Pilot Inn's own bar with only a handful of casks reaching outside outlets. Drinkers sit beneath a stained-glass frieze installed in the 1970s depicting the Mumbles Railway, the world's first passenger railway. The pub stands directly on the coastal path near Mumbles pier, and the brewery's small batch sizes mean particular beers can sell out before the next brew is ready.
