The ShipInn

The Ship Inn stands on The Toft, against the beach at Elie, owned by Graham and Rachel Bucknall through their TBC Pub Company, which also runs the Crusoe at Lower Largo and the Bridge Inn at Ratho. The building holds six rooms split across Admiral, Captain's and Seadog categories, each fitted with Egyptian cotton linen and a Nespresso machine, and two of the rooms take dogs. Downstairs, the kitchen sends out Fife beef burgers and fish and chips alongside a seasonal shellfish platter of mussels, langoustines, oysters, crab and scallops that needs 48 hours' notice. The inn's cricket team is the only one in the UK that plays its home matches on a beach, rolling the sand flat at low tide between May and September. General manager Ross Myddleton runs it day to day, though Rachel Bucknall still works behind the bar.
