Britannia Inn,Llanmadoc

The Britannia Inn stands in Llanmadoc at the northern tip of Gower, overlooking the Loughor Estuary. Built in the late seventeenth century, it is the last of four taverns once trading in the village, and keeps its original fireplace and bread oven; beams in the lounge are said to come from wrecked ships. Martin and Lindsay, both Swansea natives, have run the pub for more than twenty years, with Martin as head chef and a Guild of Chefs award to his name. The kitchen serves seasonal, locally sourced dishes alongside pub classics, and the bar keeps cask-conditioned ales including Gower Gold. A garden at the rear looks out over the estuary and keeps a small collection of rabbits and other animals for visiting children. Dogs are welcome in the bar and garden, both served on a first-come basis without booking.
