Flying Monk takes its name from Elmer, an eleventh-century monk at Malmesbury Abbey said to have launched himself from the tower on home-made wings and survived, breaking both legs. The brewery has produced cask and craft beer at Bradfield Manor Farm in Hullavington since 2014, sourcing malt and hops locally and returning spent grain to the same farm as cattle feed. A cafe and taproom opened on site around 2022, serving breakfast and lunch alongside the beer list, and the site hosts occasional festivals with live music. The business changed hands in 2020 and now trades as the New Flying Monk Brewery. It is closed Mondays and Tuesdays, open the rest of the week from 10am to 4pm.
