The Old Courthouse Gallery occupies Ambleside's former Victorian court building on Market Place, built in 1856 and later a drapers shop for seventy-five years before the Brammall family opened the gallery in 1994. Paul and Caroline Jones took over in 2016 and extended the ground floor into the neighbouring property five years later, adding a further room of hanging space. Across three floors the gallery shows paintings, ceramics, glass and sculpture, weighted towards artists working in the Lake District, alongside two curated exhibitions a year that rotate the permanent stock. The original courtroom's proportions are still visible in the upstairs display room, tall windows included.
