The Palace Cinema in Cinderford opened in 1910, making it one of the oldest cinema buildings still screening films in Britain. Rank closed the cinema after a fire in 1957, and it shut again in 1966, spending years afterwards as a British Legion hall. It was restored and reopened as a cinema in the 2000s, and is now owned and run independently by Andy and Karen Lougher, who have continued restoration work, including uncovering and repairing the original street-facing entrance arch that had been bricked up since 1966. The cinema has two screens fitted with Dolby Digital projection, subtitling, and audio description facilities, and shows current releases alongside family and seasonal titles. It stands on Belle Vue Road within walking distance of Cinderford's shops and cafés.
