The Pentre Arms stands on the seafront at Llangrannog, its bar window looking directly over the beach and Cardigan Bay. Records show the pub trading from at least 1875, when Anne Griffiths held the licence; by 1881 John Owens, a coal merchant, ran it with his wife Catherine. It became a regular meeting place for Welsh-language poets Dic Jones and T Llew Jones, and Dylan Thomas is recorded drinking there during a visit with his friend, RAF pilot Ira Jones. Listed in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide, it keeps Welsh cask ales on the bar alongside a kitchen serving lunch and evening meals. Seven en-suite bedrooms sit above the bar, making it a single free-standing pub and hotel rather than part of any group, trading under the same name for well over a century.
