Plackitt & Booth has traded from Clifton Street in Lytham since 2002, combining a general bookshop with a toyshop under the same roof rather than splitting the two into separate premises. Shelves cover fiction, local history and children's books alongside cards, journals, calendars and pens, while the toy side stocks games and gifts for younger customers. The shop also carries jewellery by designer Alex Monroe and a small selection of classical music CDs, an unusual combination for a high street bookshop. Staff order in titles not held in stock and typically have them ready for collection the next day, a service that has kept regulars loyal even as online retailers undercut on price. Author events run through the year, bringing writers into the shop rather than a hired hall elsewhere in town.
