Lytham Windmill stands on the green at Lytham seafront, a Grade II listed mill built in 1805 for local landowner interests and rebuilt after a fire gutted it in 1919. Lytham Heritage Group, a registered charity, opened it as a museum in 1989 and still runs it entirely with volunteers, spreading exhibits on milling and local history across four floors. The adjoining Old Lifeboat House forms part of the same site and keeps its own separate opening days. Entry is free, with donations welcome rather than expected, and the museum draws roughly 25,000 visitors a year despite only opening Wednesday to Sunday through the main season. Group and school visits outside those days go through the local tourist information point instead of the volunteers directly. The mill remains the best known landmark on this stretch of the Fylde coast.
