R C Secker trades from a small corner shop on Richardson Road, close to the Hove and Portslade boundary, sourcing the majority of its meat from farms across Sussex to keep food miles down. The counter still uses traditional methods of hanging and ageing beef and lamb on site, rather than buying in pre-cut, vacuum-packed joints from a central supplier. Alongside the usual cuts, the shop makes its own caramelised onion chutney and stocks a seasonal barbecue range. Packaging is kept simple, with gum-sealed paper bags and home-compostable bags offered as standard, and customers are welcome to bring their own containers to be filled at the counter. The shop closes on Mondays and Sundays, opening early the rest of the week for trade and regulars alike. Free delivery is offered within five miles of the shop.
