Street Level Photoworks was set up in 1989 by the Glasgow Photography Group, a collective of photographers who wanted a dedicated space to make and show lens-based work in the city. It now occupies Trongate 103, a former warehouse converted into studios for several arts organisations, where it runs a free public gallery alongside a darkroom and production facilities open to artists and the public. The exhibition programme covers documentary, artist-led and experimental photography, alongside talks, residencies and its own publications. It is registered as a Scottish charity, regulated by OSCR, rather than run as a commercial gallery. The space closes for short stretches between shows, so it is worth checking opening times before a visit. Entry is free, on a Tuesday to Sunday, noon to five schedule.
