Sunken Studio operates from Sovereign House on Butterley Street, a short walk from Leeds station, as an adults-only ceramics studio for over-18s. The space runs structured courses that build skills across throwing, handbuilding and glazing before students move onto membership, which buys ongoing access to wheels, handbuilding benches, electric kilns and damp storage for works in progress. Sessions run most days from mid-morning into the evening, with weekend hours aimed at people working full time during the week. Tutors keep early classes deliberately slow, working through core processes rather than pushing beginners straight to the wheel. Membership holders share the studio rather than booking private slots, so regulars and newcomers work alongside each other across a single open floor.
