The Angel of Bow occupies a corner building on Devons Road dating from 1938, one of the few pubs in Bow to survive bombing intact during the Blitz. It traded for decades under earlier names, including the Bricklayers Arms, before falling derelict. Odette and Dominic Gibson took over in 2017, completing an eight-month refurbishment before reopening that June as an independent free house. The pub keeps 22 rotating taps stocked largely with beer from East London breweries, alongside its own Angel of Bow session lager. Food runs to hand-minced burgers, fish from Billingsgate Market and Sunday roasts. Five B&B rooms sit above the bar, four doubles and one single, reached by a separate entrance. A small front garden and a beer garden with street art complete the site, which remains single-site and independently owned.
