The BagO'Nails

The Bag O'Nails is a free house on St George's Road in Hotwells, run independently of any brewery or pub company. Six changing cask ales are on at any time, usually including a dark beer, alongside one changing real cider such as Iford. The pub is known locally as the cat pub: several cats live on the premises and curl up on the bar, which is also why dogs are not allowed inside. Regular tap takeovers bring in guest breweries, and a Monday club prices session beers under 5% at a reduced rate. Housed in a small Victorian terrace building, the pub keeps a single bar rather than a food-led layout, with retro games nights adding to a low-key, locals-first atmosphere.
