The Eagle Hotel has occupied its stone coaching-house building on Castle Street since 1840, and the current family owns and runs it today, branding the business as Dornoch's first bar with rooms. The bar stocks a wide range of whisky, gin, vodka, rum, lager and cider alongside real ale served from two hand pumps that are usually both in use. Three room types, twin, double and family, all with en-suite bathrooms, sit above the bar for overnight guests. The kitchen serves locally sourced dishes from full Scottish breakfasts to hearty pub classics, and the hotel runs whisky tastings for small groups. It stands close to both Carnegie Club Skibo Castle and Royal Dornoch Golf Club, yet keeps the feel of a working village bar rather than a golf-resort annexe, with locals and passing golfers sharing the same handful of tables.
