Lotte Lyster and Miles Connolly run Stroud's music pub on the hill at Rodborough — a Punch lease rather than a free house, but the running of it is entirely theirs: bands, comedy, quiz and film nights fill the calendar, two beer-and-music festivals take the May Day and August bank holidays, and the changing casks lean to local brewers like Uley and Bristol Beer Factory with a Cask Marque five-out-of-five behind the bar. CAMRA's district named it pub of the year in 2020, for the second time. The walled garden they call secret isn't much of one any more.
