The Steam Packet Inn sits on Harbour Row overlooking the small fishing harbour at Isle of Whithorn, a few miles south of Whithorn. The family-owned pub has two bar areas facing the water, two dining rooms, and six refurbished guest rooms upstairs. The kitchen serves a contemporary menu built around the day's catch alongside standard pub dishes, with a specials board that changes with what has been landed locally. Real ale is kept alongside a full bar. Tables can be booked for meals, though groups larger than eight are asked to call ahead. The pub anchors the small harbour community, close to the Whithorn Trust's pilgrimage trail. It operates independently, with no sister branches elsewhere, and stays open year-round on this stretch of the Machars peninsula.
