Marco Ciara and Filomena Visocchi opened a cafe on Gray Street in 1954, starting with a single ice cream flavour they simply called white. Three generations on, the business is run by their descendants Marco and Roberto Caira alongside their mother Antonia, with Roberto making the ice cream, Marco overseeing the front of house and Antonia in the kitchen. The counter has turned out more than 800 recorded flavours over the years, including a pistachio made with nuts from Bronte in Sicily, alongside pizza, pasta and other Italian dishes. The shop first took orders online during the pandemic lockdowns and still trades locally under both the Visocchi's and Viso Gelato names.
