71 Brewing was founded in 2016 by Duncan Alexander and Mark Griffiths, brewing the first batch in the Old Foundry Building on Blackness Road and reviving brewing in Dundee after almost fifty years without a working brewery in the city. Beer is now produced at Bellfield Street, with the taproom, CANVAS, occupying a red-brick building on Ure Street. The range includes lagers, pale ales and seasonal small-batch beers, brewed on site and available on cask and keg in the taproom alongside bottled and canned stock to take away. CANVAS also hosts markets, exhibitions and live events in the same building. The taproom is open Friday to Sunday, with brewery tours available by arrangement. The company remains independently owned and based solely in Dundee, with no other trading sites.
