The Albany Theatre occupies the former Butts Technical College building on Albany Road, a 1930s structure west of Coventry city centre. Run by the Albany Theatre Trust, a registered charity, it was brought back into use as a working theatre after a period of dormancy and is staffed in large part by volunteers. The main auditorium seats around 600, while two studio spaces host smaller productions, rehearsals and hires. Programming runs across touring drama, live music, comedy, dance, pantomime and family shows, alongside community productions and amateur companies. A bar and box office operate on site, with longer-term plans for a cafe and gallery. The Art Deco frontage and sprung-floor hall are part of its appeal for performers and audiences alike. It functions as a genuine mid-scale receiving house for the city rather than a heritage exhibit.
