The Albion Ale House occupies a Grade II listed building on Uppergate Street, rebuilt in 1921 on the site of an earlier inn. After closing under previous ownership, the pub reopened in February 2012 following a year-long, GBP100,000 restoration, and is now jointly run by four North Wales breweries: Conwy Brewery, Bragdy Nant, Great Orme Brewery and Purple Moose. Eight hand pumps serve cask ales from the partner breweries alongside guest beers, in a three-room interior that retains much of its original Art Nouveau decoration. The pub was named Wales Pub of the Year by CAMRA in 2013 and won an English Heritage Conservation Award in the CAMRA Pub Design Awards the following year. There is no food menu; the focus stays on beer and conversation.
