The Gladstone stands on Ysgubor Wen Road in Dwygyfylchi, on the western edge of Penmaenmawr near junction 15 of the A55. The building opened in 1965 as The Plas Avon, later traded for some years as The Legend, and was taken on under its present name by new operators Gavin and Steven, who describe their aim as bringing back a proper local. Cask ales change regularly, mixing beers from smaller Welsh breweries with better-known national names, served alongside a full food menu and a garden terrace looking out over Llandudno Bay to the Irish Sea. The pub takes part in the CAMRA discount scheme and lets a number of character rooms for overnight stays. It opens Sunday to Thursday from midday until eleven at night, and Friday and Saturday from midday until midnight.
