Conwy Brewery began when Gwynne Thomas, a chemist by trade, started testing ale recipes in his garage in Llandudno. He and his wife Adele bought their first proper premises in 2003, and perfected the Honey Fayre recipe the following year, taking it onto supermarket shelves. The brewery moved to its current 10,000-square-foot unit on the Ty Mawr Enterprise Park in Llysfaen in 2009 as demand grew beyond the original site. Gwynne and Adele retired in 2021 and their son Oliver took over running the business, keeping the beer unpasteurised and naturally conditioned as it always has been. The brewery now produces over a million pints a year with a staff of ten, and runs its own taproom, MASH, on site, with brewery tours held on weekend afternoons and pre-booking required.
