Canalside Farm stands beside the Trent and Mersey Canal at Great Haywood, where Chris and Wendy Barton began growing soft fruit for local sale in 1983. A roadside stall grew into a working farm, pick-your-own field, shop and café under one roof, now run day to day by their son Geoff. The farm shop's butchery and delicatessen counter opened in 2010, with a scratch bakery added in 2019 as the business expanded to fill the rest of the old packing shed. The café serves cooked breakfasts, pulled pork flatbreads and jacket potatoes, using fruit and vegetables grown on site wherever possible. Visitors pick their own strawberries and raspberries in season before browsing the plant nursery. Narrowboats moor along the towpath outside, and the farm remains a regular stop for walkers and cyclists following the canal towards Shugborough.
