Dalston Eastern Curve Garden is a community garden built in 2010 on a disused stretch of the former North London railway line, next to the Hackney Peace Carnival Mural on Dalston Lane. Local volunteers and designers cleared the site and planted it as green space in a part of Hackney with little public parkland or private garden access, and it has been run since 2012 as a social enterprise limited by guarantee. A licensed cafe bar on site sells coffee, tea and a small range of wine, beer and cider, with revenue used to fund the garden's upkeep and a year-round programme of workshops, film nights and volunteering sessions; visitors may also bring their own food to eat there. It remains free to enter and open seven days a week, with hours that shift across the seasons, generally running from around midday into the evening through summer.
