Dundry Nurseries has traded on Bamfurlong Lane between Cheltenham and Gloucester since 1947, when it was founded by Robert Palmer. The nursery is now run by the third generation of the family and grows its own bedding and vegetable plants on site. It is best known locally for its seed potatoes, stocking more than 90 varieties sold loose by weight rather than in pre-packed bags, alongside onion sets, shallots, garlic, vegetable and flower seeds, fertilisers and houseplant supplies. Staff give planting advice to customers across the growing season. Ruby's Cafe operates from the same site, serving hot and cold drinks, homemade cakes and lunches. The nursery is open Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm, with the cafe running slightly shorter hours on both counts. Nearly eight decades after Robert Palmer first opened the gates, Dundry remains a single-site, family-owned business rather than part of any garden centre group.
