First Press Vinyl shares a single shopfront on the Beersbridge Road with Assemble, a bakery, under the joint name Bread + Records. Jason Hawthorne, formerly of the band Swimming Tapes, runs the record side, stocking new and second-hand vinyl, tapes and first pressings spanning jazz, punk, indie, electronica and psychedelic music. Assemble is run by Paddy Baird, brother of Two Door Cinema Club's Kevin Baird, selling sourdough, cinnamon buns and coffee from the same room. The two men, friends of twenty years through Belfast's music scene, deliberately keep their stock separate rather than mixing bread and records on shared shelves, so each trade keeps its own space. The shop opened in late 2023 and trades Thursday to Sunday.
