Holmfirth Vineyard has grown grapes on seven acres at Woodhouse Farm, Woodhouse Lane, since 2007, producing soft, fruity reds, a dry rose and lightly aromatic whites suited to Yorkshire's cooler climate. Winemaker Martin Fowke oversees production, and daily tours run at 10:30am and 3pm with tastings included in the visitor centre. A restaurant and shop operate on site, and The Retreat, seven self-contained apartments, opened in 2013 for overnight stays. Monthly wine-pairing dinners and wine courses also run from the vineyard, which sits on the edge of the Peak District with views over the surrounding hills.
