James and Tilla Waters met in the late 1990s as apprentices to the potter Rupert Spira, and began making pots together under their own names in 2002. The couple has worked since from a joint workshop at Bryndyfan Farm, in the hills between Llandeilo and Llandovery, producing wheel-thrown stoneware tableware. James does the throwing; Tilla the decorating and glaze design, a division of labour that has held since their earliest years working together. A set of their domestic ware is held in the Victoria and Albert Museum's permanent collection, and the pair have received national ceramics awards. The single farm workshop is their only base, with visitors asked to contact the couple ahead of any visit rather than call in unannounced.
