Staff will track down and order in titles that are not on the shelves, and free local delivery is offered on orders over thirty pounds, with a small charge below that for anyone who cannot get into the village. It keeps the till-and-shelves rhythm of an old-fashioned bookshop rather than adding a café counter or gift-shop clutter, and opening hours narrow at the weekend, with Saturday-only trading and no Sunday opening. The shop is part of Marple's Stockport Road parade of independent traders, a short walk from the train station.
