Message in a Bottle is a bottle shop and weekend bar on Cambridge Street in Cleethorpes, a few streets back from the seafront. Charles opened the business in 2015 as a specialist outlet for bottled and canned beer, cider and spirits, and it remains one of the only shops of its kind in the town centre. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday the retail floor doubles as a bar, with Crooked Concept, a Cleethorpes brewery, kept on permanent cask alongside a rotating list of guest ales and boxed ciders. A 2024 refit expanded the bar area and turned part of the former retail space into a small events room used for live music and food nights. The shop won North East Lincolnshire CAMRA's local branch Pub of the Year award in 2025, unusual recognition for a business that operates primarily as a bottle shop rather than a full-time pub. It is run day to day by Charles with manager Ryan, and trades from this single Cambridge Street address only.
