Mockingbird Cinema occupies a converted unit inside the Custard Factory, the former Bird's custard works in Digbeth turned creative quarter, reopening under its current name in November 2016. Two screens, one seating around ninety and a smaller thirty-seat room, run new releases alongside repertory strands built around directors such as Wes Anderson and David Lynch, deliberately avoiding a multiplex's release-driven schedule. An attached bar, the Nest, serves before and after screenings, and the cinema offers closed-caption glasses and audio-description sets for accessible viewings. A free late-night mystery screening draws a regular crowd happy to buy a ticket without knowing the film. Private hire is available for both screens, and the programming leans toward titles that would otherwise struggle to find a Birmingham audience.
