The Thompson family took on Oldfields Farm at Eardiston, in the Teme Valley, in 1960, and made cider from the start using a traditional press and scratter. Commercial production began in 2013, once the old press was retired for modern pressing equipment, but the orchards, pruning and bottling all still happen on the farm. Oldfields Original carries Protected Geographical Indication status as a Worcestershire cider, made entirely from bittersweet apples grown and pressed on site. Applefresco, a sparkling apple drink pitched as an alternative to prosecco, took gold at the International Cider Challenge in 2019.
