Redroaster roasts its beans on vintage Diedrich roasters at its St James's Street site, at the gateway to Kemptown. The cafe pulls coffee through a Kees van der Westen Spirit Triplet espresso machine alongside all-day brunch, Thai dishes in the evening and cocktails. Sourcing is direct trade with growers, and the counter rotates through four different coffees a day. The business holds an AA Rosette and has been recommended by the New York Times as a stop for visitors to the city. A second, beachfront outpost, Lucky Beach, runs from a centuries-old fisherman's arch between Brighton's two piers, with both sites kept under one small, independent operation rather than a wider chain.
