River CaleCafe

River Cale Cafe sits in Cale Park in Wincanton, overlooking the recreation ground, in a purpose-built space that opened on 18 September 2022. Owner Iwona Kostrzewa started the cafe after a coeliac diagnosis pushed her to build a wide gluten-free menu alongside vegan and vegetarian dishes made from locally sourced ingredients. The name nods to Wincanton's entry in the Domesday Book as Wincaleton, understood to mean pleasant town on the Cale, and to the river running past the park. Upstairs, a small play area called Mini Town Play keeps children occupied while parents finish their coffee.
