Rusty Cycle Shed has hired and repaired bikes in Oban since 2003, which makes it the longest-established cycle-hire operation in the area. The Soroba Road workshop keeps a fleet of hybrids, mountain bikes, road bikes and a tandem from makers including Giant, Specialized, Merida and Cannondale, all serviced to order before they go out. Hire bikes come with the kit riders need for a day exploring Lorn and the surrounding coast, and the shed will deliver and collect from hotels, guest houses, campsites and the town's rail, bus, air and ferry terminals. Alongside rental, the team handles repairs, servicing and custom builds for locals and visitors alike, and is happy to help cyclists who arrive mid-tour with a mechanical problem. It is an independent, owner-run business rather than a chain outlet, set up for touring the Highlands and islands by pedal.
