The Case Is Altered is a family-run free house on Case Lane, down a track off the Five Ways roundabout near Hatton, outside Warwick. Third-generation landlady Jackie Willacy has run it with her husband Charlie for more than thirty years. The building began as a single cottage licensed over three centuries ago; when a spirit licence was refused because the premises was judged too small, the landlord extended into the cottage next door, and the pub's name commemorates that change. The unspoilt interior holds a one-star National Inventory listing and includes a snug with an old bar billiards table that still takes sixpences. No food is served, though visitors may bring their own sandwiches to eat in the brick courtyard. Regular beer tastings and an annual festival showcase independent breweries, including the family's own Old Pie Factory in Warwick.
