The Keep opened on Castle Street in May 2016 in a converted art gallery, becoming Wallingford's first micropub. It closed briefly in September 2021 to switch from an off-licence back to its original one-room bar format, reopening the following month. The bar seats around 20 people across five or six tables, stocking more than 70 gins alongside a rotating selection of craft beers, ales and ciders chosen to represent Oxfordshire producers. As a free house, it is not tied to any brewery and can pour whatever the owners choose. Opening hours run from early afternoon on Fridays through to midnight, with shorter hours on weekdays.
