Potter Ellen runs The Kiln Creative from a studio inside Birnam Arts, throwing mugs, bowls and tableware to order for local restaurants alongside her own retail range. Evening courses run for six weeks at a time, one wheel per student, ending with a finished piece stamped with the maker's own mark and fired in the studio kiln. Drop-in sessions let returning students book a single afternoon on the wheel without committing to a full course, and the studio has run themed weekend workshops around Christmas, teaching visitors to throw baubles and small bells. Ellen also takes pre-orders and wholesale accounts, supplying handmade place settings to restaurants around Highland Perthshire.
