The Merry Harriers has welcomed guests since the 16th century, a low-beamed pub in the village of Hambledon that childhood friends Alex Winch and Sam Fiddian-Green bought in 2023 after building Hilltop Kitchen, a cafe-restaurant on Fiddian-Green's family farm, during the pandemic. Five shepherd's huts sit beside a pond in front of the pub, each fitted with underfloor heating, a log burner, a small kitchen corner and a walk-in rain shower, with further rooms in a converted stable block and above the pub itself. The kitchen runs on a farm-to-fork model, grazing its own livestock across nine acres behind the pub for a menu that mixes whole-animal cooking with simpler dishes such as bangers and mash. A terraced garden hosts live music once a month. The bar keeps local ales alongside cocktails and a wine list weighted towards nearby vineyards.
