Volta Books

Volta Books opened on 15 November 2025 at Nene Court in Wellingborough, run by owner Jade Hough as the town's only second-hand bookshop. The shop occupies a unit at the Embankment retail park previously held by a cocktail bar, and stocks preloved fiction and non-fiction alongside other bookish items, with many paperbacks priced between two and four pounds. Hough, who grew up in nearby Finedon, built disabled access into the shop's layout from the outset. Volta Books is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am until 4pm, closed Sunday and Monday. Local press covered the opening as a new independent retail arrival in a town where several long-standing shops have closed in recent years. The shop is a single-site, owner-run business rather than part of a chain, joining the small cluster of independent traders at Nene Court's retail village.
