Zapato Brewing

Matt Gorecki founded Zapato Brewing in 2016, brewing at other breweries' premises including Northern Monk's site in Holbeck before settling into a permanent home at Holme Mills, a former textile mill on the canal between Slaithwaite and Marsden, in 2017. The taproom looks out over a riverside beer garden in the Colne Valley, with nine keg lines and two cask pumps pouring beers built on traditional European styles rather than straightforward pale ale house style. Street food traders set up most weekends and bank holidays, and the mill space doubles as a venue for art shows and live music outside brewing hours. Gorecki led the mill conversion himself, working alongside local tradespeople rather than a contracted design firm. Dark Woods Coffee roasts next door, and the two businesses share customers drifting between coffee and cask ale across the day.
