Ancaster Butchers trades from 39 Ermine Street in the village of Ancaster, on the old Roman road south of Grantham, where a butcher's shop has operated for generations. Spencer and Georgina Baker run the business, incorporated under its present ownership in 2010, selling only English meat prepared on the premises. Lincolnshire sausage is the shop's staple, alongside venison, chilli sausage, pies and homemade chicken and ham pie. At the 2014 Lincolnshire Poacher competition, judged biennially by Lincolnshire County Foods since 1990, the shop took gold medals for its bacon and for a gluten-free sausage, plus further silver and bronze awards across several categories. It remains a single counter shop on Ermine Street, with no other branches.
