Brassica occupies a corner of The Square in Beaminster, run by Louise Chidgey and chef Cass Titcombe. The kitchen leans toward the Mediterranean, sending out dishes such as orecchiette with prawns, agretti and tomato, or halibut with borlotti beans and spring onions finished with aïoli. Service runs from breakfast and brunch through lunch, afternoon tea and supper, Tuesday to Saturday, with a shorter sitting added for Easter Sunday. Next door, the same team runs Brassica Mercantile, a small shop selling pantry goods, and Brassica Forno, a bakery turning out bread and pastries each morning. The dining room is small and often full, so the kitchen keeps the menu tight and changes it with the seasons rather than chasing novelty. Dogs are not permitted inside.
