Bryn Elltyd Eco House is an independently run guest house on the edge of Tanygrisiau reservoir, just outside Blaenau Ffestiniog, owned by John and Ceilia Whitehead since 2007. The stone-and-slate house has five en-suite rooms, split between the main building and two timber-framed annexe rooms with turf roofs, sleeping around a dozen guests in total. The Whiteheads run the property on a low-carbon basis: it draws on solar power and green electricity, provides electric-vehicle charging points, and has been assessed at gold standard by Green Tourism. The Ffestiniog Railway runs along the edge of the garden, with the Tanygrisiau halt a short walk away and quarry walks, Zip World Llechwedd and the Stwlan and Tanygrisiau reservoirs close by. Accommodation is room-only, and it operates from this single site in Eryri.
